Inspiration amid a world of chaos

Wednesday, December 08, 2004

So, I've been having the few days from he**. I told you about my banking issues, well, they continue. I'm just totally stressed out about the whole thing.
Amid all of this, I'm working on 4 large Christmas blocks that a person on one of the crazy quilting boards sent me. They were fully pieced and so now just need embellishing. Seems easy? Well, it isn't...I sit and look at them and totally block as to what stitch to put where.
A little teaser because I"m only using the scanner right now:

Anyway, lots of blank seams to go! And this is only the first of 4 blocks. For inspiration I've been visiting Linda' Crazy Patchwork Page - really great eye candy! She does some great cross stitch and tatting, but her CQ is absolutely fantastic! Don't hate me Linda if I steal some of your ideas! ;-)

Do a bead or button trail, takes up a lot of room and is very effective. Draw lightly a curvy shape along a seam line and space out some large buttons/beads, then middle sized ones, then cram full with small beads and trail the beads off at each end. Very pretty. Do a feather stitch tree over several patches and put a different coloured bead on each point, to make it look like a Christmas tree. You don't have to religiously cover every seam, Look at Linda's work again. PS I have her dragon vest here for embellishment. Don't tell, she has a shrinky dink dragon hiding in a bush on it now!
Ah Ha!!!!! Now I know what is happening to my vest. But I won't tell.

How about a Christmas Wreath - see

or go to

http://www.kalikokottage.com/phpbb/phpBB2/, choose general discussion, then Christmas Ornies.

Ooops, if you are using the three-step method to get there, you need to choose Christmas Ornie Tips, not Christmas Ornies - didn't realise there were two on there.

Sorreeeeeeeeee :(

Maureen....I love the idea of a button trail! Are there any pictures around of a good bead trail? I think I know what you're talking about, but it sometimes helps to have pictures!
Also, I'm having problems accessing your current blog posting...I was hoping there were dragon pictures! :-) I can get to your old postings, but just not your front page.
Not sure what's up there. Maybe too big of a picture or something? Blogger does weird things if you do that.
Linda,
AH, a VEST! I wondered! Well, I have some red raw silk I'm going to join it together with. I wondered why they were so HUGE!
Thanks - (sorry you don't get your vest tho!!)

I looked at the link....the wreath is a fantastic idea....hmmmm, now where to put it! :-)
Yep, a vest! :)

Here it is at a very early stage

I am a picture of confusion! YOu're talking about the vest that Maureen (one of the many) is working on!

It's GORGEOUS.....I love the dragon on it. Maybe Maureen with Tangled threads will get her blog going again so we can see it!
(sorry the surprise was ruined tho!!!)
