Stretch Polyester? In a QUILT?
Sunday, April 10, 2005
So, I have a feeling there are heaps of you who would be amazed by this:

Okay, so far away it looks like a nice quilt, interesting patterns, pleasing composition! Here's another lovely photo of it:

However, when you see the close up! YIKES! Can you believe those prints? Funniest thing we ever saw!

Being the trouble makers that we are (I think this was Holly's suggestion) we thought Rhonda should have it finished off and entered into a quilt competition!
Can you imagine piecing all of that stretchy fabric!
Ok, so that's a good laugh for today!!!

Wow! In the 1980's, in the ClearLake Region of No.California, a very good friend of my Mum's, Colleen Duval, made quilts like this and sold them at their church thrift shop. They were a big hit as gifts for the elderly confined to nursing home or wheelchair bound. I still have a few that I found in my Mum's things and I must say that they wear like iron! We keep a couple in each of our cars for the occasional nitetime chill or an impromptu picnic!

Oh yeah...everyone in my DH's family has one of these, compliments of Aunt Grace (who finally passed away at 101). I used it for the boys when they were babies and we'd go visiting....could toss it down on any semi-flat surface and put the kid down....
WOnder where that went? Gotta be in a chest or closet somewhere....

Just think of all the polyester pant suits needed to make that! It boggles the mind :)
yeah but hunting down all those polyester pant suits left lots of free range area for the "naturals":>
had one of those for years--great for camping as the weight alone keeps ya warm!
