Self Portrait Tuesday and getting back in the groove (sort of)

I have 3 drafts right now of good quality posts. One on my class with Judith Baker Montano, one about craft and fiber resources in the area and another one on an artist I ran across on a net. So, what do you get, this? My "Self Portrait Tuesday" (yep, it's Thursday) picture. UGH! Well, give me one more week and I'll get more organized.
This is what I was doing Monday:

Boring, but much more interesting in a convertible! :-) I drove up to see client in Ft. Collins. It was fun - I actually felt like a business person for a change. Oddly, I also had client appts yesterday morning and this morning. All of this keeps my mind off the fact that Matey Moo is totally appalled that we're putting him in school EVERY DAY! (it's only for 3 hours! ;-))

Anyway, getting organized....slowly, but surely. I promise a better post by the end of the week.

OH! and a note to the "bloggers who embellish". If I'm slow approving you it's because I've been slogging through a TON of spammers who've applied (ick, can't people get a life?)! So, my apologies, I just approved a bunch of new people yesterday...go check out the list! (oh dear, and I just noticed the description page got taken down! Work, work, work! I promise today everyone!).

AAARRRRGH! And Judith Baker Montano

You will all have to excuse me. This was my kids first week at school (the first time almost ever that I have had both out of the house at the same time...much less 5 days in a row) and absolutely a "regrouping week".

PLUS! Today I spent about 9 hours with Judith Baker Montano in a one day workshop our Rocky Mountain Crazy Quilters put on. I have pictures, tips, info, fabulous stuff and of couse a picture of my project to share. BUT WHEW! I'm Pooped!

So, was I was surfing the other day I ran across sharon b's links - take some time to root through them and enjoy. Sharon, I have NO idea where you find the time!

Break in the action for a total rescheduling

Well my babies are both off to school. Even with the spider bite (and swollen face) Matey Moo headed off to preschool right across the hall from his "big" sister who's in Kindergarten! The morning was chaos, but as the week has progressed, we're already settling down to a routine.
By the way, I submitted this photo to Mundo Uno on Flickr - not to get into politics, but I think they have a fabulous statement and everyone should participate! How can you oppose worldwide peace!
In other news, this is the new baby:
Isn't he cute? Huge ears and paws...we're beginning to wonder how big his papa was!
Well I cleaned my studio today and hopefully life is on the road to getting back to normal!

It's really not that bad

So, I guess somewhere Matey Moo got bitten 3 times by a spider. Poor baby. Believe it or not, this is actually an improvement over what he looked like when he woke up. According to the hospital nurse, it's fairly normal for your face to swell all up like this after a mosquito or spider bite (we're still not totally sure which one).
I'm going to clean the basement of our house within an inch of it's life tomorrow! I feel like such a bad mother! (oh, and I have a cold...whine, whine, whine!).

Play "find the kitten" and a weekend of change

We're all exhausted this weekend. Last night was "Back to school" night at the kids (emphasis on "kids" because they are both heading to school!) school. If I was overwhelmed, they had to be about 10x that much! It was exhausting! ...by the way...I have NO idea how teachers do it! They are totally undervalued and underpaid! Anyway, Monday the kids head to school. Matey Moo for the first time and Missy C for her second year (she was in preschool last year). They're only going 1/2 days, but 3 and a half hours kid free is absolutely amazing to me!

Then Rex is changing jobs....his last day is next Friday...he'll have two days off the following week and then start his new job. Longer commute, but more money and MUCH better benefits (all good!). I took last week "off" (cleaned and sorted kids clothes and closets etc) so I'm back to work next week and trying to figure out how to really use my "kid-free" time.

Frasier is fitting in nicely to the house, if NOT to the dog bed:

And I'm working on finishing a few projects. I've made a ton of progress on my Brazillian...continuing my "love/hate" relationship with Edmar threads.

I'm still working on my fiber arts post in Colorado....next week I'll actually have the brain space to finish putting in a bunch of links. Oh, and I'm making a second attempt at Wordpress...we'll see...I've tried this move before.

Our show opening and Sunday projects

Well the show was a success! At least we had a ton of people through, there was food, and music and it wasn't so hot it was miserable, so that's a good thing. Below are a few pictures from the show:

The bottom one has a picture of the show's organizer, Amber - on the right. She's amazing. Got tons of publicity out for the show and we all had a fantastic time. It's my first show in 19 years, so I figure that's progress.

We left a bit early and went down Santa fe (in Denver, this is probably one of the most popular "1st Friday art walks") and popped into a couple of galleries, including Translations Gallery a WOW, fantastic new gallery for textile artists in the Rocky Mountain area...the owner is super, super nice and I have more to tell about it - but later. Especially one piece which was TO DIE for! (teaser, eh?)

And here's what I'm working on today. The top is of course the wedding quilt I've been working on for a year...I Swear it will be done by fall! It's actually moving along quite quickly now. The below that is my brazillian project that my mother-in-law and I took the class together. I can't work on just one thing so I'm going back and forth between the two.

Harry, my cat is sitting on the corner of the big heart - has to be in the middle of everything. AND, we're getting a new kitten...probably in about a week (yep, that's how new...JUST weaned from mama!). So, I'll let you know how all of that goes!

My husband thinks it's a little naive to think this can change the world, but on the other hand, it's a start and a show of world unity.
