Happy Halloween! from kids to dryer lint!

The kids went off today to school in style (not the best picture of Missy C, but good of Matey Moo...so hard to get them both looking good)!

I can't wait to pick them up all ramped up with a load of sugar in their system. I think we're going trick or treating tonight...we'll see how the weather holds (it's 27 degrees at 11am today) and how we all feel!

I have had these links for forever....thought they were interesting artists:
Bellwether Gallery - Kirsten Hassenfeld and JARED JOSLIN - Gallery. Take a look!

I haven't been doing anything! The cat (yes, the mischeivious new one!) totally unthreaded my serger and if I get ambitious today I'm going to rethread it and put a $2 cover on it! Then I have mending to do (do others find this is an annoying side effect of sewing....you actually know how to FIX stuff?).

Anyway, the creative juices are NOT flowing, my studio is FREEZING cold and I've been working too hard (whine, whine!).

Please leave me encouraging messages to know you're still out there waiting until I get inspired again! I even though about doing something with the dryer lint! (how desperate can I get!)

Meanwhile....

I have been literally buried under work (not snow...despite the picture). The great news is that a lot of it has been for MountainPeek Creations where I have to look at a lot of quilt patterns (oh, how horrible for me, eh?). They are in a rush to get to the big show! Then I have a new site that I will be working on for a children's book author. So, fun, challenging, but not a lot of needlework of any kind.

I've had my first (the shell) of two brazillians ready to go and have made like 4 stitches on it and then Tina's quilt is still missing arms. I'm actually trouble shooting the stuffing and I think that it needs backing that's reinforced so the stuffing stuffs on the right side (actually Kari of Mountainpeek pointed out that my cotton was lighter weight than the satin and might be pushing it back. So, next step is to iron on some stabalizer and see what happens. I think i'll have to remove 1/2 the stuffing, but I'll see.

I like the way it's turning out, but I'd love to get arms and hair on her and start a bit of embellishment. I know how I want to do the quilt, so I'm HOPING the rest goes quickly after this part. Oh well, no sense in doing it if it's not right!

More cat photos - sorry you quilt/stitch lovers! :-)

An update on Frasier:

Back to normal and chewing on a sock in the laundry, you'd never know he has a pin in his head...would you? Silly boy! So, he's back at home and this afternoon, he was getting a bath from Harry and they both fell asleep like this:

Awwwww....household back to normal. The kids even threw a birthday party for Frasier today. Silly cat.

One of those days I give up as a Mom

So, I kept the kids home from school today. I was pretty sure Matey Moo had an ear infection (hunch confirmed) and so he's now on antibiotics) but before we could start our day (still in jammies, no breakfast, call made to school for absence), the cat ran hacking across the living room. Yep, this is the adorable little kitten I've been bragging about.

Well, to make a VERY long story short, he ate a needle and thread. The needle lodged in his throat (none of this did I know until we got him to the vet). I spotted the string hanging out of his mouth and pulled on it (which you're not supposed to do but I was hoping it was just inside his mouth).

Somehow he had broken off the tip of the needle and it's still lodged near his sinuses. They decided it was better to leave it than to keep going in and trying to dig it out.

So, he's home...sleeping...we're poorer, but heavens what a HUGE scare. Please put all your needles away friends! This is our second cat scare - the first wasn't sewing related - but of course I feel personally responsible or this. So, learn from my mistake!

Oh, and I'm sharing the kids VERY bad cold...probably karmic justice.

Finally finished my brazillian project and....

Well, here's the final project:
I really enjoyed that project and so had to rush off and buy these!

I can't wait to work on them, but next, I am going to finish Tina's quilt. It's out on the kitchen counter as we speak. I'm hoping by the weekend that I'm nearing completion of the heart and starting on piecing the quit.
