Working on a quilt...finally!

Blocks done for Cars quilt

So, I drudged through a pile of "Mommy can you fix this seam" and "Honey, can you shorten these pants" sort of items this weekend. Do you all find that having a serger and a sewing machine can be a bit of a burden? Now I can't get rid of anything without thinking first if I can repair it. Which is fine, but then sits in a big pile in my studio taking me away from anything else.

Anyway, onto what I consider not horribly creative stuff, but massively practical, here are the blocks for Matey Moo's quilt. I still have a bunch more to go, but SNORE! I have to say piecing blocks is not my favorite, However, it will be completely cool when I have them all done and can take it off to be quilted.

Now onto the other projects....the wedding quilt (which is now fused and ready) and hacking away at the 7 billion miles of buttonhole on Missy C's quilt. I'll have more pictures to post later.

"Oh, We're Moving On Up, To the TOP!"

Holy cow! I live in a "cool" neighborhood....the house prices are going up, trendy shops are moving in and we happen to have a selection of fantastic restaurants. One of my favorite places is Swimclub (no idea where they got the name) and last night I decided to get out with some other "Moms" and relax and avoid the monotony of being stuck inside with icky dirty snow.

The result was this:
The important part here is that my two glasses of "revello" wine were $13.00 EACH! ARRRRGH? Can you imagine? To be fair, it was a nice glass of wine, but heck! That's more than I've spent on a bottle!

Anyway, we had a fantastic time! Blathered until midnight (good thing I made use of that bar tab, eh?). Lots of quilty crafting this weekend! I promise!

Horror-scope and launching a new site!

This is what it looked like this weekend. I know, I look like I'm posting the same pictures over and over, but I promised, they're all different!

I cannot believe that my horoscope said today: "If you've been thinking about starting a garden, this is a great day to do it, as anything relating to the land begun today is likely to thrive. " Ok, is the person who wrote this a complete moron (it is January after all)? Or are they just taunting me?

Anyway, I've been busy...nursing sick kids (lovely cold going around) and also launching a new site: Denver Parents. It includes...what else....a BLOG! Plus a bulletin board for parents to post all sorts of things! I think it's going to be a fun enterprise and hopefully less work than moderating a Yahoo group for parents (which is what this is born from).

Anyway, I finally have the craft room cleaned up, I went ahead and put fusing behind Tina's Wedding Quilt, so I'm hoping that cures my "issues" with that project. Maybe not today (I actually have "work" to do today) but tomorrrow I can get back to work on that and Alec's quilt. Wish me luck!

Another Milestone?Help for an old friend and a note on the "bloggers who embellish" ring

I'm on a new schedule for blogging so we'll see if it sticks. I'm already a day late with this because I couldn't get my camera working.

Cheyenne has a very close "friend" - her boo-boo blankie. Unfortunately boo-boo's edges had become totally frazzled. So, with a bit of input from my crazy quilting friends, we decided the only way to fix it was binding. Cheyenne and I picked out a lovely contrasting pink color (there are pink flowers in the middle) and I think it turned out pretty well. The blanket is far from square, so that provided a bit of a challenge, but after using binding, I think I'm going to whip out a few blankets for my friends with new babies. It really is easy.

On another note, my "baby" (who's 4) pulled off without me to a field trip yesterday. I know that sounds lame, but I'd always gone with him and I think it was far harder on me than him to have him go alone. However, now that we've done it, it's a new era! Ah, the joys!
Oh, I took more annoying snow pictures too, but this post is long enough so I'll save those (might take some more today.

And finally, just a note on the bloggers who embellish ring. First, please be patient with me...I've decided to only approve folks on weekends, so if you're waiting in the queue for a week, that's why! (I get a ton of spam entries, so I actually have to wade through sex ads to get to real blogs...it's annoying). I'm working on getting the whole thing cleaned up, however, we're approaching 200 members! (hooray!) We've got some excellent new blogs from Europe and so please go take a look when you have a cup of coffee and some time to spare!

Happy Nothing Day!

My daughter came up with this as a description for our New Year's Day...which we have for a few years designated as "tech-free". She says it's nothing because we aren't allowed to do anything! (can you see how computers/television are a big part of our lives?). We've now decided we may extend this to the first Sunday of the month...just for togetherness and to force us to put away the laptops! :-)

I hope you all had a fabulous New Year's! We had a great time with friends and I'm now spending Jan 2, organizing and cleaning. I think the kids and I are almost done with their toys and tomorrow I can't avoid my studio. However, my friend just dumped a ton of fabric on me (oh, how horrible) and so I need to find room for it.

In it, is some really cute zebra print stuff and fur, so I'm going to dig out my stuffed animal pattern and give it a try. We'll see.
