The kids are gone! And my crazy life

You may have noticed a change of header. Well, apparently today is turning out to be the "first day of the rest of my life" (remember that old quote!).

Both of my babies (BABIES I TELL YOU!) went off full time to school today...looking so grown up:
I kept getting them in the sun (the other picture, if you want to see Missy C looking better is here)....but geez. MY BABIES! Ok, I bored poor Roger all day with all this . " I wonder what they're doing now", "they're with strangers", on and on and on.....I must pay him hazard pay for today!

Speaking of which, we have decided to go into business together. Widget has gotten so busy and he was so completely bored with stupid moronic big computer companies who are run by a bunch of blithering idiots (ok, I'll stop now). All I want in the world is stable health insurance, so darn it, we're going out and finding some!

So, he was home and my kids were gone. What a weird weird day.

I'm sure tomorrow will be MUCH more normal! (yeah, right)

Oh, did I mention I have a fiber art show to get ready for and am contributing to a Denver Post Mommy site? (I really really must be committed!)

RMCQ day in the mountains

If you've been following my friend's "Trading Spaces" adventure, I'm putting up the last of the pictures today on my other blog!

However, for Crazy quilt stitching people, I wanted to share one of our member's homes...Mary Jo...she hosted the last meeting at her home up in the mountains (a GORGEOUS drive in the convertible)...and wow, what scenery. THEN we discovered all the lovely work she does and her doll collection (oooh, ahhh!)! All the work on the walls are her brazilian pieces and get a LOAD of that tree!

All of the stitching is hers....there were two full rooms like this and then more pieces scattered throughout the house. The quilt below was completely amazing tho...hand dyed lace with the dolls throughout the piece 3-D with dresses done beautifully. Amazing! Then there was the scenery (I would be inspire to stitch all the time out there!) This is where we had to sit and eat lunch...poor us, eh?
It was lovely and like a mini vacation! So quiet! You don't realize how noisy the city is until you get way up into the mountains! Anyway, thanks Mary Jo for a ton of inspiration and fun!

Wow! What a summer!

I'm still in process of writing my blog entry about my friends being on Trading Spaces! Summary: they had a great time and would definately recommend it! (the rooms turned out great). Be sure to visit my Houseblog later today for the "after" pictures of one of the houses! :-)
But here was the rest of our summer...(warning, picture heavy):
Constant, our french exchange student was wonderful to have here and we truly missed him when he left:

The kids really loved having him around....Missy C sees Eifel towers everywhere and I think Matey Moo really enjoyed the concept of a big brother!
Then, after Constant left, we went down to the Dragon Boat Festival at Sloan's Lake. We've lived here for 6 years and never made it down! It was a lot of fun! Very multicultural and interesting. Matey Moo and I enjoyed an interesting food item which we never identified because all of the sellers and purchasers only spoke Chinese! It was kind of like a huge flat, meat filled dumpling. Good!
I loved hearing Wendy Woo - who is one of my favorites...the kids were sweaty (it was humid) but it was nice to sit on the soggy wet grass and listen!
After Constant left we decided to completely swap the kids rooms and paint both. I'm about 1/2 way through making new curtains and we're renting a pain sprayer today to paint the rooms...is that cheating? :-) Anyway, I'm sure I'll have photos on that soon.

I'm also working on my round robin block, the wedding quilt and the pieces I hope to show in the art show Sept 1st (YIKES!...less than a month away!)
