About Me:
In 1999, my husband crossed the ocean to meet me for the first time after corresponding for years...we had exchanged names in French class (me in the United States and him in Australia) when we were 14 years old. I was previously married for 5 years to a wonderful guy who died of leukemia when we were in our late 20’s. Rex and I kept in contact at Christmas and birthdays.
So, in 1999, after some more correspondence, he came to the United States to finally meet me. We immediately fell in love and got married after 10 days - his visit was supposed to be 2 weeks – he never went home.
We now have two wonderful kids....Missy C and Matey Moo, both in Elementary school and our pride and joy! How did two geeks, create such cute kids? Being a Mom has proven to be the most wonderful thing about my life...I adore my kids and would rather spend time with them than anything else. I'm not a perfect Mother, but most of the time I enjoy my "job" and I think my kids enjoy me.
Rex is responsible for my learning html and web design - which I started to do while pregnant with Missy C. . I've been designing websites and doing internet marketing for 7 years. Previous to that, I have a degree in graphic design and a vast background in sales...from retail to advertising. I have always been “arty” and one regret is that I turned a love of fine art toward graphic design, which I enjoy, but is not my passion.
A few years ago, I dug out my grandmother's crazy quilt and started researching "fixing" it (the silk had all shattered). This started my long exploration of embroidery, quilting, crazy quilting and all things fiber arts. I had gone through a 5 year artistic block and this blog, combined with my Grandmother's crazy quilt have successfully unblocked me! I'm heavily involved in the Rocky Mountain Crazy Quilters and really enjoy the talented ladies I've met there. I've since had a gallery show (in combo with some other friends) and have started actually thinking seriously about my artwork again.
We love our 1950's ranch home, which exists (out of sheer dumb luck) in a really cool neighborhood in Denver. My husband just recently came to work full time with my business...Widget Inc...and so we work together, out of our cool house! (good thing we like it, eh?). I blog about our house at Mid Century Style - 50's Ranch site and Blog. I also do a podcast about Denver events at Denver Urban Lifestyles.
In the end, this blog is not just a craft blog, but a blog about me...so if I divert from the "norm" it's because that's life!
