But I digress!

I had a wonderful class at Crazy quilting today (pictures to come soon) but I had to put this up:

A very sweet flickr fan (who shall remain nameless until he says he likes the picture I did for him) admired my self portrait. If you've never read my blog before you'll know I'm a MAJOR Andy Warhol fan. So, from my scan of a Gerbera Daisy, I made the above pictures. I love it. I wonder if my daughter would love it in her room?

Self Portrait - won an award! :-)

I did this self portrait a long time ago - my tribute to Andy Warhol - I studied and adore pop art...probably the biggest influence on me. Anyway, today someone stumbled on it and gave me a Garden Gnome award....cool, eh?

The Garden Gnome Award

I love how art gets around on Flickr. I also found in the new statistics area of flickr (found here) that this photo was used on a site as an avatar sort of thing....cool when someone "gets it" eh? Oddly, I'm not at all upset when people use my art, I find it totally flattering....it's neat when someone likes something enough to use it - I figure my art only has a limited following in my own circle...it's neat when it gets around on the net.

Photo day - My Hammy kids and a bit of "SPICY"!

Here are my two cherubs off to photo day:

This is Matey Moo's "Roddy St. James" outfit....I love it! He was a bit disappointed that he didn't have black shoes and a bow tie...we'll have to work on that! Missy C looks adorable in her fancy dress! I think these will be cute photos! My kids are hams. What can I say ( NO IDEA where they get that!)

And at the risk of not surprising my BOM swap partner, she said she liked black and white and red and wasn't opposed to crazy quilting. I HAVE to say I was ITCHING to embellish it! Can't you see a million possiblities! I may make another one for myself!

Things have not gotten quieter here at crazy house! I've also agreed to be the board moderator and ocassional blog poster at the Denver Post Mile High Moms (see sidebar). Sort of a fun group! We'll see where it all goes.

Photographs and statements

This new series looks at contemporary American culture through the austere lens of statistics

Toothpicks, 2007 (60x99") Depicts 8 million toothpicks, equal to the number of trees harvested in the US every month to make the paper for mail order catalogs.

As for me, there is nothing more satisfying about a clean refridgerator. I love the colors and freshness when I open the door!

However, I also realize how much brand name junk is in there...hmmm...beauty and reality...like the photograph on top! We are enjoying our summer, with family around and lots of work to do! The kids and I have still found time for our wading pool outside and "Otter Pops"! And for the grandparents, aunts and uncles and close friends...here's our summer, so far!

Hearts for Auction - Chicano Humanities and Arts Council

The event is on Friday and we're in a bit of a rush to finish these. We had a great time and really had fun at the actual event last year.
My first entry: The Fabric of my Heart"

My second entry: "Wild Thing, You make my heart sing"

Rex's Heart: "Heart of Progress" - I think unique in his use of emulsion on the canvas.

Now they all just need hangers.
